Alexander Scores Five Times in Win Over Philadelphia

BLOOMSBURG-- Sam Alexander (Willow Grove/Upper Moreland) scored a game-high five goals to lead Bloomsburg University to a 23-2 win over Philadelphia University in lacrosse action on Saturday.

Alexander was one of 10 Huskies to score a goal in the game which saw Bloomsburg put 23 unanswered goals on the board.

Philadelphia jumped out on top in the game with Taylor Peltzer scoring unassisted 6:29 into the game. Bloomsburg tied the game at 1-1 less than two minutes later when Samantha King (Elkton, MD/Northeast) scored unassisted, then went in front exactly one minute later when Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton) scored off a King assist. A short time later Allie Kakareka (Royersford/Spring-Ford) scored back-to-back goals nine seconds apart to make it a 4-1 game the rout was one.

Bloomsburg led 14-1 at halftime with Alexander scoring three goals, two of them in the final 3:15 of the half. The Huskies would score the first nine goals of the second half before Kelly Dallas scored for the Lady Rams with 24 seconds to play to make the final 23-2. In all the Huskies outshot Philadelphia 44-16.

Along with Alexander's five goals, Quigley, Kakareka, Tia Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) and Kylie Matthews (Gilebrtsville/Boyertown) each scored three goals for the Huskies, now 3-0. Philadelphia falls to 0-3 with the loss.

Bloomsburg will host West Chester on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
